Charleston, WV (HNN) – Charleston steelworkers have set up a fund for surgery on a kitten found bound and burned near West Virginia Steel in Poca, WV.

According to workers, the kitten found screaming behind some steel had a bag tied to it and packaging tape around its tail and hind legs. The kitten had apparently been burned on asphalt.

About two-thirds of the cat’s tail will have to be amputated. There’s also tar and tape on the animal.

The gray cat, now named Ziplock, will likely be put up for adoption through the Putnam County Human Society.

To donate funds toward Zip’s vet bills, you can send money to: Ziplock the Cat Fund, West Virginia Steel, 300 Wright Road, Poca, WV 25159
