Senator Byrd Released from Hospital, Now at Home

Huntington, WV (HNN) - After about six weeks of hospital treatment, West Virginia Senator Robert C. Byrd has gone home. Byrd was released from an unnamed hospital early Tuesday, June 30, 2009.
The longest serving senator entered the hospital with a minor infection, then, developed a staph infection.
In a statement, Byrd, D-WV, said: “I am pleased to be home in anticipation of celebrating our Nation’s birthday with my loving family. I also thank everyone who sent me their good wishes and prayers.”
