Homer Hickam to Write Foreword for New Woodland Press Title 'Legends of the Mountain State 3'

Logan, WV (HNN) --- Woodland Press, an independent West Virginia book publisher (located in Chapmanville, WV), is preparing for the release of a new title, Legends of the Mountain State 3.
"We're excited about this upcoming project—part three of a popular series—and happy to again have Editor Michael Knost at the helm. Also, former NASA engineer and beloved American author Homer Hickam has graciously agreed to write the foreword for this volume," said F. Keith Davis, CEO of Woodland Press. Hickam, 65, was born in Coalwood, WV in McDowell County and is the author of -- among other fiction and fact books -- "Rocket Boys," which was filmed as "October Sky.
"Again, a dream-team of nationally-known writers have been assembled for this anthology that focuses solely on state ghost tales and folklore." This third and final installment of the Legends of the Mountain State series is already being called the most amazing of the ghostly trilogy by insiders who have previewed the manuscript.
Knost, coordinator for the project, says the anthology will feature 13 final chapters, bone-chilling encounters and ghostly legends from the Mountain State.
Stories are penned by many of the preeminent writers in the business—national Stoker Award winners, internationally-known horror writers and gifted Appalachian storytellers. The tone in this new project is darker, scarier and the overall texture even grittier than the first two installments.
The first two volumes received national attention and have also been regional bestsellers, still described as the current best-selling ghost tale books in the Mountain State.
"It is great to see many of the biggest names in speculative fiction involved in a series that heavily promotes West Virginia," Davis added.
Legends of the Mountain State 3 will be nationally released at the West Virginia Book Festival, to be held on October 10th and 11th, at the Charleston Civic Center [exclusively available at the West Virginia Book Company booth]. Knost has also agreed to be one of the guest speakers at the festival.
