Jim Hightower Keynote Speaker at WVEC Conference

Nationally renowned radio commentator, writer, public speaker, author and former congressman from Texas, Jim Hightower, will serve as the Keynote Speaker during the upcoming West Virginia Environmental Council’s (WVEC) 20th Annual Fall Conference, “Our History and Our Future”.
The conference will be September 25-27 at Holly Gray Park, Sutton, WV (in Braxton County). His keynote speech will be Saturday, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. A book signing sponsored by Taylor Books follows.
Known as a “Populist”, Mr. Hightower has spent three decades battling the ‘Powers That Be’ on behalf of the ‘Powers That Ought To Be’ – consumers, working families, environmentalists, small businesses and just-plain-folks. Hightower is touted as a “modern-day Johnny Appleseed, spreading the message of progressive populism all across the American grassroots.
Jim Hightower is the author of the recent book, “Swim Against The Current” (2008) and the popular “There’s Nothing In the Middle of the Road But Yellow Stripes & Dead Armadillos” (1997) among other titles.
Mr. Hightower is visiting West Virginia to speak to key groups and a sightseeing fly-over tour of Mountaintop Removal (MTR) sites.
