Writer/Producer Tony Seaton was there and has the story.
William H. 'Skip' Holbrook, Jr. officially became Huntington's new leader of the police department in a ceremony at City Hall this afternoon. The City Council chambers were literally standing room only, as many of Chief Holbrook's friends, family, and former and future law enforcement brothers in arms mobbed the room to see the new man get his badge pinned on him by his wife.
They also got to see the passion he'll bring to his new position and hear his vision for Huntington.

Downtown Depot Celebrates
Click on the Cake to see the video
It was the 144th birthday for West Virginia but only the second month
in business for Downtown Depot on the Ninth Street Plaza.
You couldn't tell that by the crowd that came out to check out the wares, see how to wood-turn on a foot-powered lathe, or just to have a piece of cake and celebrate along with the famous artists who were there as well, signing books for lucky purchasers.
Tony Seaton always liked cake, so he shot some video of the festivities for you.

...and some cleaning of the 'ring-around-the-tub.' Tons of waste of every kind, from the unmentionable to the unpalatable,
line the banks of our biggest and best untapped natural resource in Huntington, the Ohio River.
So, dozens of hardy souls showed up Saturday morning to scour the banks and pick up everything they could that didn't belong there.
And that was a lot of stuff. Producer Tony Seaton went to see what kind of trash
people think the river should pick up for them, and what the RiverSweep 2007 volunteers did about it..

A tribute to the flag, symbol of the United States, was held Thursday evening on Pullman Square.
The much-needed rain let up and the ceremonies got under way a little late, but hundreds
braved the blast and were rewarded with a beautiful evening to compliment the colorful pageantry of Flag Day.

Marshall's New Clinical Center

The Clinical Center, built on the site of the old Fairfield Stadium, offers many doctors of many specialties, all under one roof, besides being a teaching facility for the School of Medicine. It's going to turn out many more doctors from its graduating classes in the future than Marshall ever has and
it's pioneering new ways of doing the business of medicine.
Producer Tony Seaton wraps up Huntingtonnews.net's three-part series on the center with this look at the doctor-doctor relationship and the doctor-patient relationship in the new facility.
Are here again at Pullman Square, with the beginning of the summer concert series, and the opening of new stores and re-opening of some old ones. Bill Dargusch of Metropolitan Partners has no doubt things are looking up, both for Pullman and downtown Huntington. Producer Tony Seaton sat down with him right before the Tams concert the other night and learned that the magnetic effect of
Pullman is no surprise to him.

Pullman Kicks Off Summer Concert Series

The Tams, from Atlanta, wearing their trademark Tam o' shanter caps, shagged Pullman Square with their vintage soul and'beach music' sound Thursday.
A crowd, easily in the thousands, turned out, on a week night, to dance to, clap along with,
and just
plain enjoy some great music.
The gathering of all ages was announced as close to 5,000--the largest crowd ever for the opening night of the
Pullman Concert Series.
Producer Tony Seaton takes you right on to the stage with the Tams, and follows the lead singer into the crowd. Photographer Chris Spencer captures the crowd and the Tams in pictures.

Problem Solver
Medical School's New Clinical Center Has Some Solutions
There's a shortage of doctors, especially in West Virginia.
Marshall's School of Medicine is tackling that issue head-on.
Its new Clinical Center aims to solve that problem and many others.
Today, in Part II of a three-part series, we'll tell you how the doctor shortage
crisis is being alleviated by Marshall Med School's new facility.
Producer Tony Seaton has that report.
Fairfield Stadium Site Lives Again
MU Med School's New Clinical Center Opens
Marshall University's School of Medicine has a new facility that lives in the 'footprint'
of the old Fairfield Stadium. And what an awesome one it is.
It promises to bring more doctors, new procedures and increased convenience to the
medical community's patients in the Huntington area.
Producer Tony Seaton has been clamoring for a look. Monday he got one for you.
It Wasn't the Pomp, so much as the Circumstance...
It was HOT in the Big Sandy Superstore Arena for Saturday's Graduation Day.
Both the Huntington High and Cabell Midland ceremonies were cooled largely by fans, as the air conditioning was apparently on the fritz. No explanations were forthcoming over the weekend.
That didn't stop Cabell Midland from handing out diplomas to over 400 graduating seniors, however, and of that four hundred, over one hundred graduated with honors. So, the students, families and friends of what would have been Barboursville High and Milton High classes, back in the day, celebrated the achievement of a long-sought goal: Graduation: Cabell Midland style.
Producer Tony Seaton, a former Pirate himself, took in the action.
Party Like it's 2007
'Cause it is! Huntington High's Class of 2007, some 300 strong,
including basketball stars OJ Mayo and Patrick Patterson, walked the walk
across the stage at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena Saturday morning.
Then they celebrated their graduation with some Silly String and the requisite tossing of the cap.
Producer Tony Seaton brings you some of the Pomp and Circumstance.
Wave Goodbye...
...to a sight never to be seen again.
That's the sight of hundreds of students piling into Cammack Middle.
The Southside school is now history.
Students, teachers, administrators, politicians, friends and neighbors
all turned out Friday morning for a ceremony never to be repeated.
It was the Final Day for Cammack.
Producer Tony Seaton went along too.
Who Could Tell From This View?
Sad, but true, however, is that we have some of the worst air quality in the country. While you couldn't tell it by just looking at a picture like this, reality is that our air is likely causing or exacerbating, asthma, allergies and worse in those of us who breathe it. Why is this?
Producer Tony Seaton went to ask a Marshall Science professor just that question.
