'Redeeming Love', 'King's Daughter' New at Marquee Pullman Square

It's a cool, snowy January weekend. New films are scarce. King's Daughter and Redeeming Love open at Pullman.

This week's flashback is Jim Henson's Labyrinth.

I have to mention one movie that's at GHTC Park Place Stadium, its Licorice Pizza and it's in contention for awards. It's not playing in Huntington.

Moonfall and Jackass Forever are set for mid-February.

KING'S DAUGHTER

King Louis XIV's quest for immortality leads him to capture and steal a mermaid's life force, a move that is further complicated by his illegitimate daughter's discovery of the creature.

REDEEMING LOVE

Based on the bestselling novel by Francine Rivers, REDEEMING LOVE is a powerful story of relentless love and perseverance as a young couple's relationship clashes with the harsh realities of the California Gold Rush of 1850. It is a life-changing story of the power of unconditional and all-consuming love.

LABYRINTH

Muppets creator Jim Henson directed this musical fantasy about a teenage girl (Jennifer Connelly) who must enter the mythical world of the Labyrinth to rescue her kidnapped baby brother. The casting of David Bowie as the Goblin King made this an iconic 80’s movie; Bowie’s five original songs include “Magic Dance,” which he performs with a gaggle of goblin puppets. (“You remind me of a babe…”) Rated PG

LICORICE PIZZA

"Licorice Pizza" is the story of Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up, running around and falling in love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973. Written and Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film tracks the treacherous navigation of first love.

WITCH HUNT

In a modern America where witches are real witchcraft is illegal, a sheltered teenager must face her own demons and prejudices as she helps two young witches avoid law enforcement and cross the southern border to asylum in Mexico. (Park Place Stadium, Charleston, limited showings.)
