From Day One Making Decisions

by Beth Bondurant
It was the sixth worse snow storm in history to hit NYC... and a blizzard in Raleigh, NC and as we readied to gather at the airport...
our flight from RDU to NYC was canceled.

Needless to say, we had no choice about flying, but driving was a possibility since there were so many plans that would never be duplicated without making it that day to NYC.

Our son made the decision to drive his car and everyone but Pops continued on the journey to fulfill our hope of visiting "The Big Apple"... now covered in two feet of snow.

"If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!"

Making decisions is an everyday process.  Some conclusions are easier than others but living is full of potential and even the smallest detail can change the course a day... a week... even a life.
"God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear."
No matter what we decide we know God loves us and is with us and will give us the strength we need as we make our decisions in the light of God's presence with us.

O God, it's a wonder that you allow us freedom in making decisions.  Every action we take has consequences not only for ourselves but for the people around us... those we know and love and those we might not even know their name.  Help me, today, to trust that your creative power permeates every step I take.  Move my heart to long for the well being of others as much as myself... and guide me in making determinations.  I look to the past and give thanks that You never leave me... even when my choices fall short of wisdom and truth. It is by faith we walk and talk and move ... so from day one of this new year, empower love and grace in our making decisions.
