Our euphoric national mood in the wake of the assassination of Osama bin Laden may make for a reluctance to look once again, or perhaps for the first time, at his demands. There has been almost nothing in the mainstream press that examines his motivations for terrorism. Read more

Each now has shown that the other has given to Democratic candidates in times past, Ireland a few years ago, Maloney just last year. Meanwhile, the issues are getting lost in the shuffle, causing many GOP and Independent voters to cast about for better options. In State Senator Clark Barnes, they will have found a good one. Let's face it: political food fights, especially in a primary election, can be interesting to watch--to a point. West Virginia's voters have been up for sale in times past, though usually the efforts to buy an election, legal and illegal, have been on the Democratic side. Jay Rockefeller certainly altered traditional West Virginia politics forever by spending obscene amounts of money in order to convince his party that he was one of them. Now another New York native, Bill Maloney, appears to be attempting the same thing with the state's Republican Party. But can this strategy work with the Party of Lincoln? Read more

The Bill Maloney for Governor campaign seems to be trying to find any TV ad that will work for them these days. Something is happening out there in the Republican-friendly counties across West Virginia. The Governor's race this year has been notable for the general lack of personal swipes taken by the candidates on one another. Wherever you happen to be on the abortion issue, one thing is for sure: West Virginia is a decidedly pro-life state.
