"The Batman" has opened highlighting the early career of Bruce Wayne (Batman) fighting crime in Gotham City as the world's greatest detective. The dark as film noir superhero outing serves as a reboot for the Batman franchise. Riddler, Joker, and Catwoman are featured. Read more

Hailed as the best Cape Crusader entry, "The Batman" takes director Matt ("Cloverfield") Reeves "reimagination" into megaplexes this weekend. Robert Pattinson, as the Dark Knight, has been compared to Michael Keaton even as critics predict some fan division, Pattinson's Batman is an angry, simmering character perfectly suited to the story being told. "Studio 666" and "Cyrano" barely cracked the weekend boxoffice Top Ten before "The Batman" tentpole lights up the sky March 3-4. "Uncharted" held #1 with $23.2 million and "Dog" held second place with a $10.1 million second week gross. Read more

Friday boxoffice estimates follow the forecasts with Uncharted in the top position and Dog a runner up gobbling about half the attendance of Uncharted. Dog has a family oriented spin, so Saturday will likely see Dog tracking more closely to Uncharted. Read more

Huntington – The Marshall Artists Series will continue to showcase their new projector and sound system at the Keith Albee Performing Arts Center with the new Lifestyle Film Festival sponsored by ZMM Architects. This week the major studios are sitting on stand by in deference to the March 3-4 opening of The Batman. Uncharted ($23.5 million) will retain the top of the box office chart followed by the second outing for Dog ($8.8 million), according to Boxoffice. No Way Home, Death on the Nile and Jackass Forever, round out the the Top 5 forecast.
The limited release of "Cyrano" will barely overshadow the wide release of "Studio 666." "Cyrano's" limited release does not include any cinemas in our region. Read more

Huntington moviegoers have three new films on their plate for the President's Day weekend. Uncharted expected to be on top at $35 million in sales, according to a Boxoffice forecast. The Dog likely will hold second place with $11.5 million.
Among hold overs from third to sixth place are predicted as Death on the Nile, Spiderman No Way Home, Jackass Forever and Marry Me. Sing 2 and Scream still have legs. Read more

The pre- and post-Valentine's Day weekend have cinemas especially Marquee Galleria, Beckley, WV, have turned to creative marketing to attract Super Bowl partiers to the concession stand. Everyone enjoys hot, buttery movie popcorn. For $12.50 you can buy popcorn in a large bag and serve it at your Super Bowl party. Marquee will also show "Magic Mike" one day only for Valentine's Day.
